Mallow's history of health

Mallow was traditionally associated with health and well-being. Up to a century ago, Mallow was renowned as a spa, with crowds of visitors frequenting it to 'take the waters'. It was regularly referred to as 'The Irish Bath'. Today, Mallow provides an extensive range of health services to the community.  We have a large number of General Practices and four dental practices. There is very good access to primary health care and general health services. Plans are at an advanced stage to provide primary care serviced by HSE staff and GPs from a new state of the art facility Mallow Primary Healthcare Centreon the Old Cork Road. It will provide a broad range of primary and social care services to the local community, including mental health and diagnostics.

Mallow General Hospital is a hugely important resource to the community providing secondary care services. A number of larger hospitals, including Cork University Hospital, are no more than 45 minutes away in Cork City. For those interested in alternative health options Mallow offers a good choice of services including reflexology and acupuncture. We are now working to promote Mallow as a healthy community.
