Alastair Russell returns to Mallow Castle

It's been well over 50 years since Alastair Russell last visited Mallow Castle as a young boy, to stay with his relatives Brigadier Maurice Jephson & his wife Eileen who resided there at that time. And so on Thursday last August 22nd, Micheál Ó'Néill of Mallow Development Partnership and Mallow Heritage Group had great pleasure in accompanying Alastair, his wife Mary and daughter Joanna back to the Castle for this significant and nostalgic visit both for the family and for Mallow's heritage interests. Our thanks must go out to all those that contributed to making it a lovely day for Alastair and his family, with a warm welcome received from so many Mallow patrons throughout the day. And also

Mallow in Uniform - Military

The Mallow Heritage Group of Mallow Development Partnership are delighted to be launching their ‘Mallow in Uniform – Military’ photography exhibition at Mallow Public Library tomorrow Wednesday 14th August at 2.30pm. This FREE exhibition will run until Tuesday August 27th and is a tribute to those in Mallow and the wider North Cork area, past and present, that served in the various Forces including those of the Old I.R.A., P.D.F., F.C.A., R.D.F. and Civil Defence. All are welcome to attend the launch which will be opened by Colonel Bill Egar, or to visit it at your leisure over the coming weeks.

Mallow RFC Annual Tag Rugby Festival

Last Friday Mallow RFC held an Official Launch in Albert Lynches Pub where a wholesome turnout of players and enthusiasts came to support this year’s Tag Rugby Festival. The Festival which is being held on Saturday August 10th is growing year on year and last year saw a record number of eighteen teams taking part. Opening the proceedings Club President Paul Barry thanked everyone for attending and wished the Committee well for the upcoming event. He also thanked the Tag Committee for their ongoing work and noted the success of the Club, especially last season in being promoted to Division 1 and winning Munster Junior Club of the Year.
