Mallow Christmas Family Food and Craft fair


The Mallow Christmas Family Food and Craft fair will be held on Saturday 2nd December in the grounds of Mallow Castle from 12noon until 4pm. Entry to the Fair is FREE for all the family.

The fair is held outdoors in the castle courtyard with a large marquee housing all the entertainment acts throughout the day. A number of artists including Mallow Arts Collective’s Dave Skinner, Georóid O’Callaghan and the Wandering Minstrels will provide some of the entertainment on the day along with school choirs and the students from Barrett School of Dance will perform a number of dance routines.

The main attraction on the day will be the food and craft stalls which will showcase an array of quality food produce – some of those attending on the day are as follows:- Irish Chocolate Fountains, Trudy’s Home Baking, Auntie Nellie’s Sweet Shop, Bean and Gone Mobile Coffee, Fresh Donuts, The Sausage Experience, Food Capers, Marco Crisps, Erzoma German Hot Food and many more. Thanks to the Local Enterprise Office, Taste Cork will also have a number of food businesses showcasing their produce such as Martins Home Jams, Hanley’s Puddings, Longeville House Cider and Apple Brandy, Bluebell Falls Artisan Cheese and many more. There is something for everyone’s taste buds, so come along and check out these wonderful food producers.

There is also great opportunity to get some of those items ticked of your Christmas Gift shopping list, as there will be a wide array of craft stalls selling everything from plants, wreaths, toys, visual arts, knitted hats and scarves, garden fairies, vintage signs, jewellery, dog accessories and so many other interesting gift ideas. Some of those exhibiting on the day are Claire’s Crafts, Pogo Toys, Funkifido Collars and Bandanas, Hanora’s Crafts, Tunnel Vision, Made for you By Debbie and many more.

The local Transition year students from St Mary’s, Patrician Academy and Buttevant Colaiste will be selling their products from their Mini Companies and will include some wonderful Christmas decorations and gift ideas. Mallow Chamber of Commerce will have a stall to highlight the Mallow Gift Card, a great way to support and shop local this Christmas and a fantastic gift for any occasion for young and old. Some of the wonderful voluntary groups in the town such as Mallow Scouts, Mallow Special Olympics and Mallow Men’s Shed will also have exhibits on display.

The Kiddies Choo, Choo train rides will be one of the main highlights for the children (no adults allowed), along with face painting and Santa will be on walkabout to meet the boys and the girls and get some tips on what is on their Christmas list for this year.

A Monster Raffle will be held in the main marquee with a fantastic array of lovely prizes including vouchers galore, Chocolates, Biscuits, Bottles of Spirits and many more gifts are up for grabs. Prizes have been donated by local businesses in Mallow and if you would like to donate a prize please give Mallow Development Partnership a ring and collection of the prize can be arranged or alternatively you can drop a prize into the at 3-4 Bridewell Lane, Mallow. All sponsors will be acknowledged at the fair.

In keeping with the previous fairs, community groups from across Mallow have come together to support the event with the local Men’s Shed, Mallow Tidy Towns, Mallow Arts Collective, Transition Year Students from the local secondary schools are among those giving up their spare time to ensure the day runs without a hitch.
