Launch of 175th Anniversary Publication of 'The Nation' Journal

The launch in Mallow Library on November 30th, of ‘The Nation 1842 – 2017’ by the Heritage Committee of Mallow Development Partnership commemorates the 175 years past since the first edition of the newspaper in Dublin in 1842. ‘The Nation’ was suppressed in 1848 by the then ruling authorities but in its six years of existence it was recognised as the most influential newspaper of its time. As stated by Dr Sean Ryder of University College Galway, its programmes for political change, education, economic development, language preservation and cultural revival set the agenda for all subsequent varieties of Irish nationalism. Mallow Christmas Family Food and Craft fair

The Mallow Christmas Family Food and Craft fair will be held on Saturday 2nd December in the grounds of Mallow Castle from 12noon until 4pm. Entry to the Fair is FREE for all the family. The fair is held outdoors in the castle courtyard with a large marquee housing all the entertainment acts throughout the day. A number of artists including Mallow Arts Collective’s Dave Skinner, Georóid O’Callaghan and the Wandering Minstrels will provide some of the entertainment on the day along with school choirs and the students from Barrett School of Dance will perform a number of dance routines.
